Investiture at the “Sacra Infermeria” of the Knights, Valletta, 21st July 2007

A moving Investiture Ceremony, followed by a Gala Banquet, was held in the historic surroundings of the Meditterranean Conference Centre, Valletta, on 21st July 2007, presided over by the Prince Grand Master H.E. Count Louis Scerri Montaldo, and attended by the Grand Chancellor H.E. Chev. Keith Roberts-Sampson Bristol, the Prior of France, and Grand Hospitaller H.E. Chev. Dr. Jean-Pierre Lablanchy, the Grand Prior of Australia H.E. Chev. Sydney J.P. Borg, the Prior of Malta, Chev. Charles Cilia, the Prior of Sicily H.E. Chev. Luigi Vitale, the Prior of Russia H.E. Eugene Tomashov, O.S.J. Ambassador to Russia Dame Anastasia Budykho, as well as Chev. Prince Michael von Anhalt Herzog zu Sachsen, Chev. General Catello Marra, Chev. Philip de Jong, Chev. Lionel Aboudaram, Chev. Paul Tanti, the Hon. Chev. Noel Farrugia, M.P., Chev. Joe Grima, Chev. Lucio Dalla, and others. Several Priories world-wide were thus represented and participated at this imposing Ceremony.
The Mediterranean Conference Centre had been converted from the ancient “Sacra Infirmeria” of the Knights of St. John, which is the reason for it being chosen as the venue for this Solemn Investiture of the Knights of Malta..
A total of 27 Postulants were invested as Knights and Dames into the Order. This was followed by a convivial social Gala Dinner at the same impressive venue attended by over 200 distinguished guests.
Investiture Ceremony
The Ceremony began with a solemn procession led by the Standard Bearer, followed by:
Serving Sisters and Brothers, Dames, Knights, Commanders, Councillors, Knights Grand Cross, The Grand Hospitalier, The Grand Chancellor, The Grand Master.
There followed the entry in procession of the Postulants, led by the Grand Prior of Australia.
The Grand Master then delivered his formal Proclamation commencing the proceedings.
